Is Your Car Causing Your Allergies And Symptoms?

Most do not consider that their car could be responsible for many of their allergies and symptoms. With longer commutes and more rush hour traffic many people are forced to spend long hours sitting in their car. Cars are subject to the same treatment as our home, we eat in them, take our pets for rides, spill things and some may smoke in them.

Even worse is your car is often subject to more abuse than your home. When we spill something in the car often the clean up is half hearted leaving a open invitation for mold. Pets leave behind pet dander which gets blown around either by having the window open or ventilation. Carpets inside cars also are a magnet for trapping dust, dirt, dander and other allergens which may be causing your allergies and symptoms. Cars also get less attention when it comes to cleaning and many areas like under the seat are impossible to vacuum. Most cars are also made up of many synthetic materials. Some of these materials can cause allergic reactions to those who maybe sensitive to them. Most car manufactures have not really considered allergies when designing cars until recently.

The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation has recently awarded Ford with their much sought after Seal of Quality. Six Ford models received the seal; the Ka, Focus, C-MAX, Mondeo,
S-MAX and Galaxy. Ford became the first car manufacture to receive the award. Much of the credit goes to the interior materials which were designed to reduce allergies and symptoms to the lowest possible levels.

Perhaps now other car manufactures may follow and their designers will produce cars that will cause fewer allergies and symptoms. You might also want to consider all the allergy problems inside your car the next time you clean it.
