Tips to Effectively Prevent Mold Build Up

Many people suspect that the build up of molds in their home are causing serious health risks and most of them are unsure of what to do to keep their home mold-free. Obvious evidence that molds have already taken over your home is the musty and unpleasant smell of the environment. If you're looking for a way to get a clean smelling home, get rid of those mold spores invading indoors.

Molds are fungi that grow as single cells called yeasts. These single cells form a branched system known as a colony. The reproduce through spores which spread through the air or by clinging to yourself or your clothes. Molds are extremely resilient and can survive and grow in many different temperatures and conditions but do not despair, there are still things you can do to help.

While you cannot entirely get rid of molds in your home, there are ways to reduce them and prevent them from growing back. Here are some tips.

• Make sure that the interior of your home is getting proper airflow. This includes your bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, and basement. With proper airflow, you get rid of moisture and helps in maintaining these areas dry.

• Molds thrive in damp and dark recesses of your home and furniture so it's important that these areas get enough sunlight to keep them dry thus preventing mold spores from reproducing and multiplying.

• Use household cleaners that effectively eliminate mold and mildew and make sure to air-dry after cleaning. There are also cleaners that help disinfect the area making preventing them from coming back. Apply the cleaning product directly to the infected area and let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping them dry.

• Get an air purifier with a certified HEPA filter like the Alen A350 Air Purifier. Molds that are washed away may still have spore residue floating in air making them impossible to remove completely. Air purifiers with HEPA filtration systems are effective in removing airborne mold spores. Since there's no moisture inside air purifiers, the spores die and do not reproduce.

• Whenever possible, remove the mold as soon as you see signs in walls, furniture and other surfaces.

Do not take chances when it comes to the health and well-being of your family. These simple steps will greatly reduce the risk of molds reproducing around you. Stop the build up before it has the chance of affecting your health.
